Edith M. Butler (1914 to 2014) passed away on March 26

, 2014. Edith was a resident of St. Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia, PA for the past year. She was born in Hampton, VA. and spent much of her early life around Richmond, VA. She moved to Marcus Hook, PA when she married her husband the late Carl J. Butler Sr. and lived there until 1998 when she and her husband moved to Lancaster, PA. Edith survived her parents (Robert Lee and Edith Tignor), 2 sisters, and 7 brothers (6 of the latter who served in WWII). Edith was active in her community as a Republican committee woman and a member of the Marcus Hook Library Board for many years. In her later years, Edith enjoyed reading and watching her beloved Philadelphia Phillies. She is survived by her son Carl J. Butler Jr. and daughter in law Diane Butler of Willow Street, and grandson Jeffrey Butler of Castle Rock, Colorado. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
