Edith Meeker Sexton, also known as Edie, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Mennonite Home. She was the wife of the late Paul P. Sexton. She was born in Centre Hall, Centre County, PA and was the daughter of the late Van Dorn and Emma (Hoffmann) Meeker. Surviving are two daughters; Suzann S., (wife of Michael H. Reese) and Brenda J., (wife of Terry P. Leslie) both of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Ryan H. Reese, Allison L. Scheid, Bradley P. Leslie, and Lauren E. Leslie; and one sister, Beatrice E. Borger of Hanover, PA. She was preceded in death by siblings: Woodrow Meeker, Isabel Shope, James Meeker and Gertrude Meeker.
Edie was a member of First United Methodist Church of Millersville, PA, where she taught children’s Sunday school classes and junior church. She graduated from Centre Hall-Potter High School and worked at Sylvania in Mill Hall, PA. Also in earlier years, she worked for Piper Aircraft Corporation in Lock Haven, PA, in the accounting department. She retired from the credit office of Watt & Shand Department Store, Park City Mall.
Always one of her main objectives in life was helping others. She helped many neighbors and church friends. She was an auxiliary member of Homestead Village Retirement Home where she volunteered. She also volunteered at the Parish Resource Center in Lancaster, PA. She enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, poetry and music. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602. A viewing will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be at Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Road, Lancaster, PA.
