Edward G. Reese Ii

Edward G. Reese II lost his battle to cancer on December 24, 2013. He loved life and adored his family. He fought for his life heroically with inspiring courage.

Born on March 5, 1941 to Edward and Mildred Reese in Lancaster, he graduated in 1959 from Warwick High School in Lititz, PA and Pennsylvania State University in 1963.

Ed enjoyed a 36 year career as an executive of Mobil Oil Corporation. After retirement Ed became a professional Boy Scout, organizing after-school Cub Scout programs for Hispanic youths and as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 619 in Kennett Square PA. He was lovingly referred to as “Papa” by his scouts. His work with children in the Hispanic community was the most rewarding of his career.  Ed earned Wood Badge, the highest training award in scouting in April 2013.

Ed leaves behind his lovingly devoted wife of 46 years, Kathryn Gilbo Reese, his son Scott Reese, daughter-in-law Remy, and grandsons Victor, Edward and Alistair from Evergreen, CO and his daughter Emily Reese Pfaff, son-in-law Keith Pfaff, and granddaughters Rabea, Annika and Ava from West Grove, PA.  Ed is survived by his three brothers, who were his best friends, as well as his sisters-in-law: James Reese and Sandra, Dr. Richard Reese and Nada and Timothy Reese, Esq. and Patricia Dorenkamp-Reese, all from Lancaster. He is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00PM at The First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. Church is located at 21st and Walnut Streets. A reception in the church hall will follow the service.

Adhering to Ed’s final wishes, donations to help support BSA Troop 619 of Kennett Square are welcome in lieu of sending flowers.  Donations may be sent to: BSA – Chester County Council, Ed Reese Scout Reach – Troop 619, 504 South Concord Road, West Chester, PA 19382
