Edward R. Lloyd, 92, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Masonic Villages in Elizabethtown, PA. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Manbeck) Lloyd. Born in Tamaqua, PA., he was the son of the late Edward G. and Treva (Robertshaw) Lloyd.
He graduated from Tamaqua High School and proudly spent much of his career as a coal miner.
Edward enjoyed meeting and talking with people, and was known as having a good sense of humor. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, ballroom dancing, and also took an interest in martial arts where he had participated in Tang Soo Do.
Edward was a chaplain as well as a member of the Masonic Lamberton Lodge No. 476, Shriners Consistory 32nd degree, the Lancaster County Shrine Oriental Band Lodge of Perfection and was president of the Lancaster County Oriental band and served as aide to the Potante of Rajah. During his later years he officiated many Masonic Services within the Masonic Villages.
He is survived by a son, Edward G. (husband of Donna Lloyd) of Las Vegas, NV; and two daughters, Christine (wife of Dino Petrucci) of Stewartstown, PA, and Janet (wife of Robert Lombardo) of Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a son Wayne Lloyd.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel at the Masonic Villages of Pennsylvania, at 1 Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania 17022, on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held Monday at the Masonic Village from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Masonic Village Hospice, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
