Eleanor H. Green, 78, of Lancaster, died at home on Sunday, December 8, 2013.
She was the wife of the late James Russell Green who died February 13, 2013 with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Born in Manhattan, NY she was the daughter of the late Julius C. and Helen L. Abb Hertsch.
Eleanor was graduated from
University of Delhi
in NY, where she was trained as a dietitian. Eleanor had worked many years at the Lititz Senior Center. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, where she had been active in the choir for many years. Her interests in theater and music carried over into her involvement with the Long’s Park Association and the Fulton Theatre. She enjoyed spending time with the Downtowner’s Group.
Surviving is a daughter Allyson G. wife of Joseph Mowery of Lancaster; a son, Kendal W. husband of Paula Thompson Green of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, one great grandson, and a brother Julius husband of Audrey Hertsch of Haines City, FL. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Dr. Geoffrey S. Kohler officiating. Friends may greet the family following the service. Interment will be in the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 or to the Fulton Theatre, 12 N. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603
