Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Bleecher

Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Bleecher, 88, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Mt. Hope Nazarene Home in Manheim.

She was the wife of the late R. Frederick Bleecher who died in 1994.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Ralph, Sr. and Julia Quino Bowers.

Betty retired from Lancaster General Hospital where she had been employed in Central Supplies.

Prior to that she had worked at Schick for many years.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Betty was a great cook and was known far and wide for her Easter Eggs.

Her goal in life was to make sure that everyone who came to visit her left happy.

Surviving are three sons, Robert F. Bleecher, Jr. of Lancaster, Gary husband of Ruth Bleecher of Wernersville, and Brian K. Bleecher of Elkton, MD; two daughters, Karen L. wife of Tom Holihan of Frankford, DE and Dorene E. wife of Dean Brandt of Manheim; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Bowers and Ralph Bowers, Jr. both of Lancaster; and four sisters, Julie wife of Ted Mowrer of Holtwood, Nancy Fisher of Millersville, Jean Gilbert and Joan Roschel both of Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by a sister Mary McClure.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 501 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Daniel O’Brien as celebrant.

Friends may call at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Interment in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
