Elizabeth R. Millard, 99, of Lancaster and Hollywood Drive, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Born in Abilene, KS, she was the daughter of the late Emil George and Marie A. Schlegel Glatt.
She was a teacher of English in Topeka and Emporia State University, KS, and also in Bloomsburg, PA. Elizabeth was a tutor for twenty years at the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic resident program. During WWII, she was a Red Cross Staff worker in hospital recreation. Her life was filled with volunteer hours: twenty years with Meals on Wheels, Community Hospital, Lancaster Walking Tour, and book clubs specializing in book reviews.
A member of Grandview United Methodist Church, she and her husband initiating the building of the Memorial Garden.
Surviving besides her husband, Robert T. Millard, are two sons; Robert T. Millard of Lancaster, PA, and Dr. James S. Millard of Dresher, PA; and a granddaughter Carolina Millard of Philadelphia, PA.
Preceding her in death are her brother, Paul, and sister, Esther Engeman.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hackman Memorial Garden of Grandview Methodist Church, 888 Pleasure Road, Lancaster, PA.
