Elsie V. Kurtz
Elsie V. Kurtz, 95, a resident of the Mennonite Home, died Saturday, June 7, 2014.
She was the wife of the late Robert S. Kurtz who died in 1989. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Lena Himes Stewart.
Elsie was a graduate of Columbia High School. Early in life she had worked as a hair dresser at Watt & Shand and then operated a salon out of her home for many years.
She was a member of the All Saints Anglican Church and a former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Virginia wife of Joseph Hipple of Lancaster, and Robyn wife of Melvin Rhoades of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hipple, Robert Hipple, Jessica wife of Joseph Rager all of Lancaster, and Christopher husband of Susanne Rhoades of Manheim; four great grandchildren, Brady and Isabella Rager and Logan and Mason Rhoades. She was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Tippett.
Services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the All Saint’s Anglican Church, 15 Ridgewood Road, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to the Humane League, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602
