Esther “Nanny” Auker

As of September 6, 2012, Esther “Nanny” Auker”, 97, a resident of the Pleasant View Retirement Community, is dancing with the angels.

She was the wife of the late Walter E. Auker who died in 1990. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Annie Oberholtzer Eberly.

Mrs. Auker was a homemaker most of her life. Earlier in life she had worked at Wilbur Suchard in Lititz. She was a member of St. Paul

’s Lutheran Church in Lititz.

Esther enjoyed spending time at the beach, quilting, sewing clothing for charities, playing cards and volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the Lititz Fire Co.

Surviving is a daughter, Myrna Pierson of Lancaster; two sons, Soreno “Sonny” A. Auker of Lititz, and Donald E. Auker of Sacramento, CA; ten grandchildren, Scott husband of Denise Groff, Stephen husband of Victoria Groff, Alana wife of David Koser, Stacey wife of Jeff Silvers, William husband of Stacey Groff, Irene Hulse, Douglas Auker, April Auker, Tyler Auker and Nicole Auker; eleven great grandchildren, Erica, McKenzie, Luke, Alyssa, Lindsey, Nicholas, Morgan, Jenna, Piper, Irene, and Douglas; and two great great grandchildren, Dalton and Dalton; two sisters, Mabel (Irvin N.) Miller, Lititz, and Ruth (Dave) Kauffman, Whitefish, MT. She was preceded in death by sons Bruce and Edward Auker, by sisters, Minnie Good, Fannie Buckwalter, Anna Mary Weaver, Ada Rudy, Kathryn Stover and Barbara Eberly and by a brother Harvey O. Eberly.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of hte family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Pleasant View, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545.
