Eugene F. Markley

Eugene F.(Pappy) Markley, 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Harrison Senior Living of Christiana.  He was the husband of the late Betty Jane (Kissinger) Markley.Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Paris and Anna (Balmer) Markley.

A proud Veteran of the US Navy, Eugene served during World War II aboard the USS Wasp and in the Korean War. He loved sharing colorful stories about his military career.

Gene retired from Alumax in 1991, he loved to work and had various part time jobs until the age of 90. His hobbies included watching baseball, gardening, walking and spending time with his loving family.

He is survived by a son, Troy S. Markley of Leola; two daughters, Cherie Cheney of Lancaster, and Tammy Markley of Lancaster , his grandson Anthony J. Spinello II and his wife Trinidad with whom he resided. 15 additional  grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren .

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Colleen Spinello, a son, Craig Markley, and a granddaughter, Tanya Rosenberry.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 with Deacon Expedito Santos officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Markley’s memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, National Processing Center, P.O.
