Evelyn Jeanette Butz

Evelyn Jeanette  Butz , 93 of 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA, formerly of Landisville, PA passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Meadville Medical Center.  She was married to the late John Andrew Butz, Sr. for 60 years and the matriarch of a loving family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Anna (Eckels) Melester.

Evelyn graduated from McCaskey High School and Lancaster Business College.  She was a dedicated executive secretary and devoted volunteer in her retirement.  She enjoyed playing golf and tennis, traveled to five continents, and valued her life-long friendships and family.  She was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, and in the past two years, she was an active member of the Wesbury Retirement Community.

Evelyn is survived two children, John A. Butz, Jr. (Judy) of Indialantic, FL; and Kathleen Allio (Jeff) of Cochranton, PA; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and her brother Malcolm (Gerry) in Palm Coast, FL.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cribbs Activity Fund C/O Wesbury Methodist Retirement Community, 31 N. Park Ave, Meadville, PA and Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3825 Concordia Rd, Columbia, PA  17512.

She will be honored at a memorial service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA  17602 on Saturday, January 28th 2017.  Visitation will begin at 10:30AM and the funeral service will follow at 11:30AM.  Interment will be immediately following at Riverview Burial Park.  To leave an online condolence please visit: www.DeBordSnyder.com
