Evelyn M. Risser, 82, of Lancaster, passed into the safety of the arms of Jesus on Friday, July 13th after a courageous battle with cancer at Country Meadows of Lancaster. She was a charter member of Hempfield United Methodist Church, where she taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School for 35 years, sang in the choir, and attended evening prayer meetings. She loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him faithfully in too many ways to count. She continued her ministry to others at Country Meadows as well. She had many friends that she cherished along her life’s journey.
Evelyn cherished her family and was especially fond of children. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also extended her unconditional love to spouses and partners of all family members. Her grandchildren will always remember their birthdays being celebrated with their grandmother by a shopping trip for a birthday gift. She will be greatly missed by all.
Surviving are: 2 sons, Theodore husband of Kimberly Risser of Millersville, and Timothy husband of Kathryn Risser of Manheim; a daughter, Susan wife of Thomas Bair of Wrightsville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clyde husband of Margie Holbein; 2 sisters, Mary wife of the late Richard Kahler and Rosie wife of Fred Joost.
