Fern E. Ritter

Fern E. Ritter, formerly of York, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023. Fern was born in Berks County to Lizzie (Dilliplane) and Frank DeTurck. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and went on to earn her Master’s degree from Marywood College. She devoted over 30 years to teaching junior and senior high school students in Berks and York Counties. She now joins her husband of 42 years, Lester R. Ritter, who passed away in 1995.

Fern is survived by two sons, Mark A. (Mary Anne) Ritter of Mount Joy and Timothy A. (Stephanie) Ritter of Chesterfield, VA and one sister, Jeanette Hershey of Lititz. She is also survived by five granddaughters, Pamela Brandt of Lititz, Megan Disher of New York, NY, Lauren Ritter of Lancaster, Elizabeth Edwards of Austin, TX, Cassandra Ritter of Chesterfield, VA and a great-granddaughter, Olive Edwards and nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St. Lancaster, PA 17602 on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM.  A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
