Frances R. Greenawalt, 92, a resident of the Mennonite Home, died Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy.

She was the wife of the late Ralph E. Greenawalt who died in 1978. Born in Manor Twp., she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. and Esther A. Rutt Mellinger.

Frances had been employed at the former Dagen’s Market and then Darrenkamps for 30 years. She was a member of the Pequea Brethren In Christ Church where she had served on the Missions Committee, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.

She was a graduate of the Manor High School and attended Messiah College in Grantham for two years. Frances was also a member of the Society of Farm Women and the Conestoga Senior Citizens. Over the years, she enjoyed volunteering at the Conestoga Fire Co. dinners.

Surviving are three daughters, Faye E. wife of Raymond H. Hess of Conestoga, Sharon E. wife of Jay V. Hess and Lois G. wife of Charles D. Rhoads, both of Mountville; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel L. Greenawalt, and by sisters, Martha Mae Kibler and A. Rhoda Dagen.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 27, at 3:00 P.M. at Pequea Brethren In Christ Church, 40 Church Road, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. R. Dale Shaw and Chaplain Dorcas Martzall officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Pequea Brethren In Christ Church Benevolent Fund, 40 Church Road, Lancaster, PA 17603.
