Freda E. Fouse, 107, formerly of Rohrerstown, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Saint Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia, PA
Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Alice Laberta Rineer Kunkle and the widow of the late Joseph R. Fouse.
She was a longtime member of Salem United Church of Christ in Rohrerstown where she served in many capacities throughout the years. Her special love was teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, where her artistic creativity was evident in both her crafts and play productions. She also enjoyed serving as a nursery attendant for countless years.
Freda loved growing both flowers and vegetables and took pride in being able to prepare meals with the produce from her garden.
She also worked at the former Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster for many years.
Freda was predeceased by two sisters, Claribel R. Kunkle and Harriet L. Henny and is the last of her immediate family. Surviving is her late husband’s nephew, Glenn Stehman of Columbia. She is also survived by those whom she lovingly called her “adopted” children: Carole Behrens Jennings, Jack Behrens, and Shirley Sigman Charles.
A Funeral Service will be held at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 2024 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17602, on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Laverne DiNino officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment in the Rohrerstown Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery.
