Frederick R. Kreider, 82, of Lancaster, PA died Friday, March 25, 2016 at home. He was the loving husband of Barbara Myers Kreider to whom he was married 59 years.
Born in Ephrata Township, Fred was the son of the late Ralph and Erla (Lutz) Kreider. He graduated from Ephrata High School, Millersville College, and earned a master’s degree in Education from Ohio State University. For 38 years Fred was a school teacher and administrator in the Lancaster City School District. He was a member and past treasurer of Lancaster Church of the Brethren. Fred also served in the United States Army.
Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends at his cabin in Lycoming County. He also enjoyed spending his winter months in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
Fred is survived by sons, John F. Kreider, husband of Eileen (Noy) of Garrison, Iowa and Timothy S. Kreider, husband of Shay (Zug) of Lititz; daughter, Ann L. Winters, wife of Scott Winters, of Lewisberry; granddaughters, Angie Mosher, Erika and Erin Kreider; grandson, Oscar Winters; 3 great-grandchildren; step grandson, Ryan Neatrour and family of Hughesville PA, and step granddaughter, Lori Wasson and family of Indianapolis IN. He is survived by brothers, Ronald and Gary Kreider, and sisters Kathryn Mummau and Ruthanne Kreider, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service in Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Avenue, Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jeffrey B. Rill, Sr. and Rev. J. Calvin Wenger officiating.
The family will greet friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred’s name may be sent to American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603
