Gene A. Dungan, 89, passed away on June 26, 2024 at Masonic Villages in Elizabethtown. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Chester E. and Dorothy M. (Hagan) Dungan. He formally resided with his companion, Nancy Craun, who he enjoyed traveling with and living life together.
After graduating from Manheim Township High School, he spent a 43-year career in various positions and departments for the RCA Corporation/Burle Industries.
He proudly served in the US Army from June 21, 1954 until June 20th 1956.
Gene was a member of Masonic Lodge #43 for 34 years, a member of the Columbia Fish & Game Club and 8th Ward Club.
He co-founded the Hillside Lodge 65 years ago with nine of his buddies. A hunting camp in Potter County, where great memories were made and where he taught his children and his grandchildren the love of the outdoors. He was an avid gun collector as well as an excellent marksman winning numerous awards while in High school and in the Army.
Gene was a passionate gardener and was recognized for his award-winning roses. In his spare time , Gene loved to travel all over the world with family and friends. He especially loved his hunting adventures in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho as well as fishing in the Tangier sound at Deal Island, Md.
He is survived by daughters, Susan Bradley (wife of Christopher) of Elizabethtown, PA, Karen Stepanchick (wife of Gary) of Lancaster and a son, Robert Dungan of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a sister, Dolly Diffenderfer. He also leaves behind his best friend Willie, his dog.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
