Gerald T. Horn of Lancaster, PA, died peacefully at home on July 22, 2024 with his wife, Shirley A. Horn at his side. They have been married for 73 years. He was born in Lancaster on February 7, 1932, and spent his life giving back to his community. Gerald will be remembered for his love of his family and friends and his service to others. Many may know and remember him for his days working at his Horn of Plenty produce stands at the Central and Southern Markets. He enjoyed seeing his children and grandchildren at their sporting and musical activities and summers spent in their pool. He served his country in the Army and his community as a West Lampeter Township Supervisor.

Gerald was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster for 73 years where he also served as President of the George Mann Sunday School Class, and was a Deacon and Trustee. Gerald was best known for his generous samples on Market, delighting young baseball players across generations with hotdogs at home games - win or lose - for both his son and grandson, as well as their teammates, and his love of a good bargain. He and his wife could often be found driving the countryside, on their way to the next farm stand in search of the freshest and best produce.

He is survived by his wife Shirley A. Horn (Smith), daughter Cris Chambers (Horn) and her husband Jack Chambers, son Gerry Horn and his wife Lisa Horn (Myers), granddaughter Brittany Bormann (Horn) and her husband Dr. Bradford Bormann, grandson Jared Horn, and great-grandson Theo Bormann.

At Gerald’s request, the family is holding a private ceremony.

The family is very grateful for the support of Hospice and in lieu of flowers is inviting family and friends to make donations in Gerald’s name to Hospice and Community Care at 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601 or online at www.HospiceCommunity.org
