Geraldine Clouser, age 99, died peacefully on November 15, 2012 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of Lee E. Clouser, who passed away in 1974. She was also predeceased by her sister, Lillian Deak, of Youngstown, Ohio. They were all of the Lutheran Faith.
Gerry was born on March 22, 1913 to Reed E. and Nellie (Kordes) Stormer. She spent much of her youth on her parents’ farm near Punxsutawney, PA. In later years she loved to reminisce about her childhood there. One of her favorite stories was about going to a one-room school during the winter. Sometimes the snow was so deep her father had to walk ahead of her and her sister to break a path, or he would hitch up the team and take them on a sleigh.
Mrs. Clouser graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1932. Eventually she relocated to Harrisburg to accept a position working for the State. After her marriage she devoted herself to her husband and her children. In 1980 Gerry moved to Lancaster. In addition to caring for her mother, she volunteered for the American Red cross at a local hospital. She enjoyed working in her yard, taking walks, reading, and doing things for her family.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter Nancy, married to James Burns, Lancaster, and her son Robert, married to Mary (Woodward) Clouser, Williamsport. Also cherishing her memory are grandsons Sean and Nathan Clouser, and great-granddaughters Courtney and Kayleigh Clouser, all of Williamsport. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins.
To honor Gerry’s wishes, the viewing will be limited to immediate family members. The interment will be private at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
