Gerri Umstead

Gerri Umstead, 78 of Garden Spot Village, formerly of Coatesville, PA, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013.  Born in Lancaster, she was married to Art Umstead for 53 years.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Funk.

Gerri was a graduate of Penn Manor High School and was a member of Garden Spot Community Church.  She served in the U.S.O. in the 1950’s.

Gerri enjoyed cooking and music.  She sang in the Coatesville Bible Fellowship Choir and The Village Voices at Garden Spot Village and loved attending concerts at the New Holland Community Park. Gerri was a devout Christian and she enjoyed singing hymns.  Her family was the light of her life and she often would talk of their latest accomplishments.

In addition to her husband, Gerri is survived by her sister, Nancy Ricketts of Wyomissing; her daughter: Lisa, wife of Matt Muckelbauer of McKinney, TX; her son:  Todd Umstead and his wife, Dawn, of Lancaster; and three grandchildren: Ethan, Daniel, and Olivia.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services of 11:00 a.m. at the Community Church at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557, with Chaplain Chet Yoder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, 433 S. Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA.
