Gertrude “Trudy” Lorgus Veser, 88, a resident of The Long Community at Highland, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy.
She was married 54 years to John Robert Veser who died in 2003. Born in West Chester, PA she was the daughter of the late Rudolf G. and Helen H. Oster Lorgus, who owned a flower shop where she developed a lifelong love of gardening.
Trudy was a graduate of West Chester High School and the Becom Business College in Wilmington, DE. She was last employed as a typist at Automated Composition, Inc. Trudy was raised in the family floral business and loved raising a garden as well as flowers and plants.
She was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed participating in church activities, especially teaching children in Sunday School and Bible School classes. She was a member of the Universal Silver Sneakers and enjoyed swimming, walking, aerobics and yoga. Earlier in life she enjoyed camping up and down the east coast.
Surviving are two sons, James husband of Rebecca Veser of Lebanon, and Mark Veser of Mountville; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Veser of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jon, Nicholas, Juli and Jodi; six great grandchildren; and a brother Robert Lorgus of West Chester. She was preceded in death by a son, John Veser.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 30, at 11:00 A.M. at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
