Gideon K. Zook, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, February 29th at Hospice of Lancaster County. Born in Honeybrook, PA on September 22, 1924 he was the husband of the late Mary Adair Zook and the son of the late Daniel and Hannah King Zook.
Mr. Zook was stationed with the U.S. Army during WWII as a Tank Crewman stationed in Germany. After being honorably discharged, he was employed by Coca-Cola Co. for 42 as their production manager.
He was a loving husband, father, and poppy who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling, and sports.
Surviving is his daughter Virginia, wife of David Matz, of Allentown, PA; one grandson, Mark Matz of Dallas, TX; two granddaughters, Karen Mandart of Melville, NY, and Debbie Prosser of Allentown, PA; as well as seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings Betsy Fisher, Mary King, and Sarah Baumgartner all of Honeybrook, PA. He was predeceased by his brother Moses Zook of Lititz.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Salem United Church of Christ, 2312 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Pastor Laverne DiNino officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in Rohrerstown Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Salem United Church of Christ.
