Glenn R. Hildebrand

d. September 24, 2023

Glenn R. Hildebrand, 82, of Lancaster, passed away on September 24, 2023 at Lakeside at Willow Valley Communities.  He was the loving husband of the late Charmaine A. Hildebrand who preceded him in death.

Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Richard and Lena (Glick) Hildebrand.

After graduating from J.P. McCaskey High School, Glenn served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964. He was stationed in Puerto Rico and spent time on a Mediterranean Navy ship. After an honorable discharge, Glenn spent much of his professional career as Superintendent of the Injection Molding department at Kerr Glass in Lancaster. During his 40 years there, he made many long-time friends. He often enjoyed poker games, tennis matches and football games with his co-workers. Even though he was a supervisor, due to his kind nature and treatment of his colleagues as equals, he was able to create many friendships that lasted beyond his retirement.

In his spare time, Glenn was an avid and competitive tennis player. He was a long time member of the West Side Tennis Club.  Ping pong in the basement would suffice when he was unable to play tennis. Bowling and a good game of pool would also bring out his competitive side!  He loved riding his motorcycle and took his wife and grandchildren on exciting road trips exploring the countryside.  Glenn and his wife loved music and could often be found out on a dance floor on a Saturday night. A day of eating crabs or visiting a casino was something he often looked forward to. But most special of all was spending time with his adoring family, especially attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. Glenn was a die-hard Eagles fan and could often be found watching the game somewhere.

He is survived by his daughters; Audra Lapp (wife of Tonya) and Glennda Hart (wife of George); grandchildren, Corey, Cody, Courtney, Brittany and Tiffany.  Also surviving are his two great-grandchildren Lukas and Landon.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother (Barry) and a daughter, Rhonda Gower.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Thomas Auditorium at 300 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA 17584 on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 2:00 PM.  An informal visitation will occur following the service.  A committal service will occur earlier that day at 11:30 AM at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, 435 Manor Ave, Millersville, PA 17603.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.  To leave an online condolence for the family, please visit:
