Gordon B. Wolfer, 81, of Lancaster died May 26, 2014 at Hospice and Community Care. Born October 5, 1932 in Lancaster to the late Alvin D. and Katherine Wolfer. Gordon was the husband of Nancy Chryst Wolfer.
Gordon attended J.P. McCasky High School and upon graduation he joined the Army and served in the Honor Guard during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged with honors from the military, Gordon and his brother Alvin D. Wolfer Jr. ran the family owned Wolfer’s Cafe on East King Street. After selling the business Gordon attended Millersville University where he received his BA in Industrial Arts. He then moved to Beach Haven, NJ to teach at Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin, NJ. Gordon taught Industrial Arts for 32 years and was part of the Mainsail program at Southern Regional for an additional 8 years. He was a member of the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Company. During summers in Beach Haven he worked at Kapler’s Pharmacy for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Nancy C. Wolfer, of Lancaster; two children, a daughter, Rebecca DiLeo, partner of Scott Rouhier, of Lancaster; a son Michael, husband of Sandy Wolfer of Manahawkin, NJ; four grandchildren, Mathew Wolfer, Ian Wolfer, Sarah DiLeo, Nicholas DiLeo; and four great grandchildren, Aiden Wolfer, Dillon Wolfer, Aalia Wolfer and Ethan Wolfer.
Gordon will be remembered with a Celebration of Life which will be announced at a later date.
