Harold E. Werner

Harold E. “Pop” Werner

Harold E. Werner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully joined our Good Lord on June 1st, 2017. He was the husband of 56 years to his late sweetheart Arlene S. Werner.

He was an excellent cook and enjoyed fishing, participating in the church choir, watching his grandson Andrew pitch, spending time with his family, and spoiling his “grand-dogs” with pocket treats.

“Hal” was a 1949 graduate of West Lampeter High School and life-long member of Willow Street United Church of Christ where he was a member of the choir and caretaker of the church cemetery. He was a veteran of the USAF and retired from his position as General Manager at Weaver Fluid Power, Inc.

He is survived by a son, Steven H. of Washington, IL; a daughter, Julie A. Graeff (wife of Gerald M.) of Willow Street, PA; five loving grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a sister, E. Arlene Holbein. His sense of humor including “Hal’s quotables”, burlap bag roasted sweet corn, fish fries, and his deep love and pride for his family will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Glen at Willow Valley Communities and more recently, the caregivers at Quarryville Presbyterian Skilled Nursing for the care and love shown to Hal and his family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Willow Street United Church of Christ Choir Fund, 2723 Willow St. Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584, or the Water Street Rescue Mission, 210 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
