Harold A. White, Jr., 82, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community, Columbia. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Harold A. Sr., and Helen Moore White. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Heilman White who died in 2001.

Harold was a 1950 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College earning his degree in Economics. He held several positions in management and accounting during his career including: Chief Executive Officer at Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital; Office Manager at the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Manheim; and Office Manager at R. M. Heagy, Inc. East Petersburg.

He served in the U. S. Army with the U. S. Constabulary as part of the Occupation of Germany following WWII. He was a member of U. S. Constabulary Assoc., and the American Legion Post 475, Downingtown. He was an active member of Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, Lancaster, and the Goddard Lodge #383 F. & A. M., Coatesville. Harold was also an accomplished musician, and played cornet with the following bands: 11th Constabulary Regimental Band, Straubing, Germany; Franklin & Marshall College Band, Lancaster; Lukens Band, Coatesville; Rohrerstown Band, Lancaster; City Band of York.

Harold was an avid reader, especially relating to WWII history. He enjoyed traveling both domestically and abroad, including returning to the area in Germany where he was deployed. The time he spent with his family was always close to his heart.

Surviving are: a son, Kenneth H. husband of Nancy White of Lancaster; a daughter, Jane M. Day of Denver; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held from Maugans Chapel at the Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, 1210 Maple Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 11 AM. Kindly omit flowers. Contributions may be sent to the Hamilton Park UCC Memorial Fund or to Hospice of Lancaster County, P. O Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the care given to Harold by Fairways at Brookline in State College, St. Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia, and Hospice of Lancaster County.
