Harriet Janice D. Funk, 93, of Lancaster, PA died May 13, 2011 at ManorCare Health Services. She was the widow of Willard W. Funk, assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education for the School District of Lancaster, who died in November, 2001. Mrs. Funk was born in Quakertown.
A member of Grandview United Methodist Church since 1947, she was very active on the Altar Flower Committee and taking care of the gardens surrounding the church property. She was a member of the Green Acres Garden Club, Silver Threads, Overlook Golf Club and Host Golf Club. She was involved in the Friendship Force as Host and Ambassador, and visited Germany, England, Italy and Brazil.
Mrs. Funk is survived by two sons, Tim Willard, husband of Suzanne Funk of Harrisburg, and Robert William Funk of Lititz; five grandchildren, Amanda, Josh, Jacob, Brianne and Cameron; two sisters-in-law, Gene Dotterer of Catasauqua and Molly Funk of Quakertown; and an adopted family, Ernest and Patty Schoenberger, and their sons, Aaron, husband of Amy Schoenberger, and their children Christopher and Matthew; and Alan, husband of Sarah Schoenberger; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Grandview United Methodist Church, 888 Pleasure Rd., Lancaster, PA on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00 P.M. The family will greet friends immediately following the memorial service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
