Helen L. Everts, 93, formerly of Landisville, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, May 12, at Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown, PA.
She was born in Towanda, PA to the late J. Roy and Helen (Bradley) Lilley. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Mial E. Lilley, and her sister, Jean L. Ramsay.
Helen was a graduate of Towanda High School and worked for many years as a secretary in the Harrisburg area and for Lancaster Newspapers, Inc. where she retired in 1986 as the News Librarian.
A member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster, for more than 50 years, she was a former member of the Knit Nannies, a Sunday School teacher, the Choir Mothers, ECW, and the Flower Guild. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and knitting, antiques, and yard sales. She was an avid supporter of ORCA (Organization for the Responsible Care of Animals.)
She is survived by her daughter, Melanie E. (Molly) Moyer; her grandchildren Katherine E. Mausolf (Andrew J.), Bradley E. Moyer and his fiancée, Amanda Carlini; 3 great granddaughters, Natalie E., Fiona E., and Lily C. and her niece, Jean Mial Ramsay, Lexington, KY.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Masonic Health Center for taking care of Helen with such love and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to attend Helen’s memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 321 W. Chestnut St., Lancaster, PA 17603. The family will receive friends in the Parish House from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the church’s Memorial Garden.
