Helen M. Landis, 97, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, April 8th, 2012, at Hamilton Arms Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of the late John D. Landis and was married in April of 1937.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Magdalena Edwards Myers.
She graduated from Hempfield High School and spent much of her professional career as a Bank Teller at both the Landisville and Rohrerstown branches at what is now Citizen’s Bank.
She was a lifelong member of the former Rohrerstown Church of God and received many accolades from the church. She held a variety of responsibilities some of which included: being an active member of the Ladies Life Line Class, playing piano, creating the church bulletins, and singing in the choir. In addition to her responsibilities at church, she enjoyed preparing meals for family gatherings.
Helen is survived by a daughter Nancy, wife of Lester Hess of Millersville PA; a son John “Fred,” husband of Pat Landis of Lancaster, PA; two Grandsons, and 6 Great-Grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters Ruth and Katherine, and a brother Art.
The family would like to send a “special thank you” to the caring staff at Hamilton Arms Nursing Center. Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment in Rohrerstown Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery.
