Helen Marie Lamparter Unger died in Christ June 29th at the age of 101. She was the wife of the late John H. Unger who died in 1995. They were married on February 10, 1943. Born in Lancaster, PA on April 2, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Lorenz and Lizzie Metzler Lamparter. She attended the Lancaster public schools and was a graduate of the Stevens High School for Girls in 1928. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Armstrong Cork Co. and Lancaster Press. Helen was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Lancaster. She was active in the Friday Fellowship at the church for 40 years. She was a member of American Heart Association and served as the treasurer of the group. She was also a former member of the Iris Club for many years.
She is survived by a brother, James W. Lamparter of Van Nuys, CA; two nieces, Joyce L. Nissley of Mt. Gretna and Susan L. Diem of Lancaster along with several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lorenz Lamparter, Jr., Arthur Eugene Lamparter and Rev. Robert M. Lamparter, and a sister, Ruth Arlene Lamparter Daugherty.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Service of Christian Burial which will be held in the Good Samaritan Chapel of Luther Acres, 500 St. Luke Drive, Lititz, PA on Tuesday, July 5, at 10:30 A.M. Family will greet friends at the Chapel on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Riverview Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Luthercare Nursing Scholarship Fund, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, PA 17543.
