Henry Eugene Peters

Gene Peters, 80, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Gloria Faye (Young) Peters who died in 2007.  They had shared 53 years of marriage.  Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Irvin and Elva Peters.

After graduating from Manheim Central High School, Gene served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He had an active business career in Lancaster County.  Gene worked for Lancaster Newspapers, WGAL Radio, CoreStates Bank and retired from the Bank of Lancaster County. Following his retirement , he worked for over 10 years at the Manheim Auto Auction and most recently was employed by ABC Lancaster Auto Auction.

Gene was past president of the Manheim Township Ambulance Association.  He was awarded the Benjamin Rush Award and Citizen of the Year for his achievements with this organization.  He was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Hamilton Club.

Surviving are three children, Kimberlee Peters of Philadelphia, Susan married to Chip Brennan of Lancaster, and David married to Eileen Peters of Warrington; and five grandchildren, Mollie and Patrick Brennan of Lancaster, and Jack, Matthew and Jenna Peters of Warrington.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral  Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Edward A. Dickel officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.  Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Manheim Township Ambulance Association, 1820 Municipal Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601.
