Henry F. Rittenhouse, Jr.

Henry F. Rittenhouse, Jr., of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, February 29th at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, PA and graduating from J.P. McCaskey High School, he was the husband of Gladys (Betsy) I. Ross Rittenhouse and the son of the late Henry F. Sr., and Estella Heaps Rittenhouse.

Mr. Rittenhouse was employed by Federal Mogul as a supervisor after proudly serving in the U.S. Army and received a purple heart during WW2.

He and his wife were members of Grace Baptist Church in Lancaster.

Surviving beside his wife are four sons; Henry F. III, husband of Vicki Rittenhouse of Leola PA; Ike B., husband of Carol Rittenhouse of Manheim, PA; Guy H., husband of Sheryl Rittenhouse of Mountville, PA; Jon H., husband of Kelly Rittenhouse, of Manheim PA; and two daughters Sherry, wife of Tom Brown of Manheim, PA; and Kim C. Mortensen, of Lancaster, PA; 19 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Harold T. Rittenhouse of Lancaster, PA, and a sister, Virginia M. Wardrop, Lancaster, PA. He was predeceased by a sister Betty Taylor and a brother Victor Rittenhouse.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Baptist Church 1899 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603 with Pastor Marvin Reich officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private. If desired, contributions in Mr. Rittenhouse’s memory may be sent to Grace Baptist Church.
