Henry A. Pilsner

Henry A. Pilsner, 64, of Millersville, PA passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mt. Joy, PA on Sunday, July 13, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born on March 15, 1950 in Waldeck, Germany, Henry immigrated to the United States with his family in 1951 and became a naturalized citizen in 1957.  Henry was the husband of Kathy (Long) Pilsner, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage, and the son of the late Frank and Fanny (Roth) Pilsner.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Jason, husband of Melanie Pilsner, Ephrata, PA and Matthew Pilsner, partner of Ray Mager, Whitehouse Station, NJ as well as two grandchildren, Katelyn and Anderson Pilsner.  Henry is also survived by two brothers, Fritz Pilsner, husband of Diane Pilsner, Denver, PA and Frank J. Pilsner, husband of Sherry Pilsner, Millersville, PA.

Following graduation from Lancaster Catholic High School in 1968 and Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in 1970, he served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman while stationed in Vietnam from 1971-1972.  He was a member of the Millersville VFW.

Shortly after he was discharged from the Army, Henry was hired by Wohlsen Construction Company and became a Master Carpenter.  He worked for Wohlsen for over 40 years until his illness disabled him.  During his career he worked on over 100 construction projects.  He received numerous craftsmanship awards from Wohlsen as well as being honored for his skills by the Harrisburg Builders Exchange on more than one occasion.  In his spare time, he spent many hours building furniture in his workshop for friends and family.  Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was something he enjoyed a great deal.  Henry was a fan of the NFL and rooted for Notre Dame and Penn State football teams.  He was also a NASCAR fan. In recent years, he looked forward to going out to dinner with his classmates from St. Anthony’s Catholic School.
