Herman A. Crabtree
Herman A. Crabtree, 87, of Lancaster, PA passed away at Conestoga View on Thursday, June 23, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothea in 2004.
Herman retired from Armstrong World Industries in 1989 after 42 years of service where he was a general supervisor, and from Reifsnyder’s Pianos in 2014 where he was a scheduler.
He was born in Elizabethton, TN, son of the late Herman A., Sr. and Alice Girton Sword Crabtree where he graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1946. Herman and his wife loved to travel and visited all 50 states and 25 foreign countries. In addition to travel, he was on an Armstrong Bowling team, enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a member of the Latin-Satin dance club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 496 F. & A.M., Millersville, and a member of the Lancaster Lions Club. He was also a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
He is survived by three children: William, husband of Ruth Lorenz Crabtree of Lancaster, A. Joanne, wife of Donald Stump of Lebanon, and Deitra J. Jones of Oldsmar, FL; two grandchildren: Christine, wife of David Fitzgerald of East Petersburg and Dr. Stephen M., husband of Carolyn Elias Crabtree of Hancock, MN; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Eleanor Starvis of Laurel, MD. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Doris Ayers, Betty Haynes and Shirley Akers.
A service of remembrance will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 750 Greenfield Rd, Lancaster, PA on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Family visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
