On 21 September 2023, Hester Jason Long died peacefully in her sleep at age 93 after a brief bout with pancreatic cancer.
She is survived by her two sons, David and his partner Stephen of Bethlehem, PA, and John and his wife Ashley and their children Riley and Owen of Madison, AL, and her sister Fe Asis and her husband Boy of Stockton, CA and three nieces and a nephew. She was preceded by her parents, Arturo and Estefania (nee: Rodriguez) Jason, and her sister and brother-in-law, Carmelita and Lorenzo Molino and a nephew.
Hester was born April 14, 1930 in the Philippines. After graduating from Silliman University and receiving a Bachelors in Education, she attended Yale University Divinity School where she earned her Masters in Divinity. Later she received a Masters in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College. After retiring from clinical social work, she lived at the Manor in Willow Valley Retirement Communities. Hester was an active member of the local community, First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
