Hilda Mae Hale, 91, passed away on January 5, 2023 at Sunrise Senior Living in West Chester. She was the loving wife of the late Charles William Hale. Born in Hazleton, PA, and raised in Lattimer Mines, she is the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Hilda May (Youngcourt) Craig.
She was the daughter of a coalminer and homemaker and grew up with meager upbringings and quickly learned the importance of hard work. After graduating from Hazle Township high school in 1949, she worked at First Pennsylvania Bank in Hazleton, and later married Charles who proudly served in both the Army and Navy during World War II. They both settled in Philadelphia where Hilda continued her career in banking eventually becoming the Manager of Adjustments at what is now Wells Fargo Bank. At an early age she was found to have high aptitude for math.
In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and vacationing to their mobile homes and spending time with her beloved dogs.
She is survived by her nephew, David W. Hibbs (husband of Regina) of Coatesville, PA; a niece, Linda Ruth Mariz (wife of Eric) of Lake Worth, FL; a niece, Carol Lee Blyler (wife of Rick) of Ocean City, MD and 8 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Lois Ruth Hibbs; a brother, Clarence William Craig, Jr.
