Hiram L. “Bud” Walls, 86, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his home in Lititz. Born in Millington, MD, he was the son of the late Hiram T. and Catherine S. Moffett Walls. He was married to Jane E. Rogers Walls.
Bud served as a CPO in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He and his family moved from New Jersey to Lancaster in 1966 where he would be the chef at the opening of the Lancaster Host. Throughout his years, he enjoyed making friends through his culinary expertise at the Hamilton Club and the Lancaster Country Club. He was known for his “Bud’s World Famous Crab Cakes.” He was a member of the Lititz American Legion. Bud also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Bud was loved by his children and grandchildren which include: 4 sons, Michael husband of Kathy Walls of North Fort Myers, FL; Jeffrey husband of Anne Walls of Lancaster, Vincent husband of Kim Walls of Lititz, William husband of Kathy Walls of Lancaster; 3 daughters, Kathleen Vasquez, Deborah Walls, and Catherine Reese, all of Lancaster; grandchildren, Justin and Carrie, Stephen, Scott, Kenneth, Stacey, Stephanie, Cate, and Tara; 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Timothy and Christopher, and 2 sisters, Dora and Marion.
A memorial service will be held from the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. The family will visit with friends from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
