Howard R. Mccabe
Howard R. McCabe, 78, of Willow Valley Communities, died on December 31, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Ellen (Wilson) McCabe.
Born on April 27, 1938 in Bridgeville, DE., he was the son of the late Russell I. and Beatrice (Tyler) McCabe.
Howard earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware. Upon graduation, he joined Armstrong World Industries where he spent 40 years as a principal engineer.
He eventually retired to Willow Valley Communities where he and his wife Ellen resided.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing tennis, bicycling, watching college basketball, reading, maintaining their home in Rehoboth Beach, DE. and spending time with his family and helping and supporting friends in need.
He was an active member of Willow Street United Church of Christ and a member of L.E.A.B.S.
In addition to his wife Ellen, he is survived by two sons; Kurt W. (husband of Melissa Reed) of Wayne, PA. and Mark T. (husband of Maritza) of Lewes, DE. He is also survived by a brother, Russel T. (husband of Gracia) of St. Augustine, FL. Also surviving are nieces, Nancy, Leslie and Laura.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
