James Frederick Wheeler, 77, of Lancaster, PA died Saturday at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia.
Born the tenth child of Robert and Maude Burnham Wheeler in New Market, Indiana, he graduated from Waveland High School in 1957. He served his country in the United States Army from 1957-1960 and was stationed in Germany. James worked for IBM in Greencastle, Indiana and Carlisle, PA until his retirement in 1995. He later worked at McCracken Pet Food Store, Lancaster. James was an active member of Westgate Baptist Church.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Nancy Masten Wheeler; children Robert J. Wheeler (Jackie), James F. Wheeler Jr. (Teresa) and Michele Dock; and stepdaughter Joetta Bookert (Keith). Also surviving are grandchildren Katie, Nick and Meredith Wheeler, Tyler Dock, Chesney White, Aja Bookert and Zach, Matt and Josh Watson. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
James is survived by three brothers, Bill (Emily), Bob (Maxine) and Jack. Surviving sisters include Jean Cornett (Pete), Darlene Brooks, Jane Starnes (Bob), June West (Jim) and Sandy Byers (Jim.)
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Tom and sisters Francis Livengood and Sue Sutherlin.
A memorial is scheduled for Friday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at Westgate Baptist Church, 2235 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA (717) 394-1071.
