James R. Fetter, 80, of Lancaster, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Conestoga View.
He was married 55 years to the late Gloria A. Fisher Fetter who died April 15th.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Russell M. and Grace C. Harnish Fetter.
James was employed for many years as the executive director of the Lancaster County Tax Collection Bureau. He was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School and a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict . He was a member of the American Legion. A member of the Shale Bank Hunting Camp in Milroy, he enjoyed spending time at his cabin, hunting and fishing.
Surviving is a daughter, Sharon E. wife of William Harris of Lancaster; a son, J. Michael Fetter of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a sister, Jean D. Hansen of Ft. Worth, TX; and two brothers, Jere husband of Dawn Fetter of Stillwater ,MN and Joel husband of Claudia Fetter of Etters, PA. He was preceded in death by a brother John G. ”Jack” Fetter. He was be missed by his dog, Molly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, June 18th from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment with Military Honors in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S. Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
