Jane Kauffman Hendry Banzhof, 91, formerly of Pleasure Rd., Grandview Heights, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at Brethren Village. Born in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of the late John Elmer and Edith Kauffman Hendry. Jane graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in January, 1940, and was a member of the last class to graduate mid-year. Upon graduation from high school, she worked at Science Press.
Jane was the widow of Paul Franklin Banzhof who passed away in 1995. They celebrated 53 years of marriage June 28, 1995. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved her family, friends and God. She brought great joy to others through her hospitality in hosting family gatherings and church social functions.
Jane worked at WGAL-TV as the evening receptionist from 1966-1987. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Lititz, PA where she taught Sunday school for 20 years, served on the Parish Life Board and was active in the women’s group. She was always supportive of her children’s activities. She served as a scout leader, and was active in the PTA at Wharton Elementary and Reynolds Jr. High School where her children attended. Jane also volunteered for Conestoga View Auxiliary where she served as secretary for 30 years and also for the American Cancer Society.
Surviving are her children: John D., Lancaster; Nancy Marshall-Vokorokos, husband Dan, Lancaster; Joseph H., wife Jean, East Petersburg; grandchildren: Mark A. Banzhof, York; Benjamin A. Marshall, Lancaster; Daniel B. Marshall, Lititz; Spencer C. Vokorokos, CO; and Carolyn Buch, East Petersburg. She is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren. Jane was predeceased by: her son, Paul F.; son-in-law, Ronald F. Marshall; brother, Laurence Hendry; sisters, Rhoda Hunter, Ruth Little and Mildred Bengel.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 308 E. Petersburg Rd., Lititz, PA, 17543, on Saturday, February 9
th
at 5:00 P.M. with the Rev. Jeffrey N. Webb officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 4:00 until the time of service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be sent to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church at the address above.
