Jane S. Darmstaetter, 92 passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, October 27
th
after a brief illness. Born in Harrisburg, she was a lifelong resident of Lancaster, and the wife of the late Douglas Darmstaetter, Sr.
Jane graduated from Manheim Township High School and LaSalle Junior College. She worked briefly for Armstrong Cork Company. Jane was a member of the Towne Club of Lancaster and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church on Orange Street, where she served as a volunteer receptionist for many years. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and Fall escapes to Hilton Head Island. Up until her passing, she was an enthusiastic member of several bridge clubs including one started more than 70 years ago. Most recently, she helped form a bridge group in the Long Community at Highland.
Jane’s friends both lifelong and new, were attracted by her upbeat personality and positive energy. Her passion was people.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Darmstaetter, Jr. and wife Marylynn of Lancaster; her daughter, Deborah D. Jans and husband Thomas of Boise ID; 5 grandchildren: Elizabeth of Big Bear Lake, PA; Christopher of Honeybrook, PA.; Geoffery and Peter of Fort Collins, CO; and Katherine of Glasgow, Scotland; and 2 Great Grandchildren, Mason and Riley of Big Bear Lake, PA; and her sister, Betty Mae Pasternak of Charlottesville, VA.
A service celebrating her life will be held in First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange St, Lancaster, PA, on Saturday November 2, at 11:00am. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
