In Loving Memory of Jane Ethel (Lewis) Way August 5, 1941 – December 3, 2024
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jane Ethel Way, 83, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who was called to her eternal rest on December 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 5, 1941, in Flushing, New York, Jane was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elsa Lewis. At the age of 9, Jane and her family moved to Oxford, Pennsylvania, where she spent her formative years and laid the foundation for many cherished memories. It was in Oxford, Pennsylvania, that Jane met the love of her life, James Alexander Way. Jane devoted her life to James and created a warm and loving home for their family. Jane poured her heart into raising her five children with unwavering care, instilling in them values of kindness, resilience, and faith. Her home was a haven of love and laughter, where family traditions were cherished, and every milestone was celebrated with joy. Her greatest pride and joy were her children and found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and cherishing the simple moments that brought them together. On most Saturday mornings, you could find Jane happily scoping out garage sales, always on the hunt for a hidden treasure or a good bargain to bring home.
Jane was the wife of James Alexander Way, Sr., who passed away in March 2008. She is survived by her five children: Deborah Williams, James Way Jr. (and his wife, Rebecca), Donna Shuffelbottom (and her husband, Dave), Pamela Berry, and Joseph Way (and his wife, April). She was also the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren: Tania, Amanda, Jared, Hayley, Ryan, Jason, Kristina, Shane, Shyanne, Greyson, and Campbell. Jane is survived by her loving sister, Joy Fisher, with whom she shared a lifelong friendship.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster, PA. The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the parish hall. Jane will be interred at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane’s memory to Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster County.
