Janet H. Garman, 93, of Lititz, PA died peacefully on March 12, 2025, at Landis Homes. Born in Lancaster, PA on August 26, 1931, Janet was the daughter of the late H. Landis and Emma (Kahley) Hill. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years H. Clair Garman in 2015.

Janet is survived by her son Robert C. (husband of Shelly) Garman of Millersville, by her daughter-in-law Catherine Garman of Elizabethtown, by her sister Nancy C. Hill of Lititz, by two granddaughters, Erika (wife of Matthew) Gallisdorfer of Hummelstown and Leisa (wife of Steven) Mackauer of Lovettsville, VA, and by four great-grandchildren: Wesley, Oliver, Aubrey and Ryleigh. In addition to her husband, Janet was preceded in death by her beloved son David C. Garman and by her sister Doris Y. Herr.

Janet graduated from J.P. McCaskey High School in 1949. She was a meticulous bookkeeper who worked for Steinman Stations, Kroll Electric Co., and the Humane League of Lancaster County. Janet was an avid reader, loved cats, enjoyed spending time with her family, and enjoyed watching the Phillies.

Janet was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster since 1956 where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served as a tour guide providing details of the church’s rich history to visitors. Janet was also a member of the Landis Valley Associates for over fifty years and served as a tour guide at the Landis Valley Farm Museum. She also served as membership coordinator during the Museum’s Summer Institute programs.

At Janet’s request, there will be a graveside memorial service for family and friends to be held at Conestoga Memorial Park, Garden of the Four Gospels section, 95 2nd Lock Rd, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Wednesday March 19, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

Janet’s family are grateful for the compassionate care provided to her by the Landis Homes Manheim House caregivers and staff.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S. Duke St., Lancaster PA 17602 or to the Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum, 2451 Kissel Hill Rd., Lancaster PA 17601.
