Janet G. Maurer

Janet G. Maurer, 80, of Brethren Village, formerly of East Petersburg, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie Stauffer Gehman. She was the wife of the late Robert H. Maurer who died in 1990.

A homemaker, Janet also operated Doll Associates in East Petersburg. She was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lancaster. She was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and its Hershey Region. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing cards and reading.

Surviving are: a son, Dennis R. husband of Kathy Maurer of East Petersburg; 2 grandchildren, Amy Maurer of East Petersburg and Keith husband of Meghan Maurer of Malvern; a great-granddaughter, Lindsay Maurer; a sister, Ruth Spotts of Lititz. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Gehman.

Funeral services will be held from St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601 on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 11 AM with interment following in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 11 AM at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, or to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
