Janice Marie Luttenberger
Janice Marie Luttenberger, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the age of 63. Born on June 19, 1951 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of John H. Luttenberger, Jr. and the late Evelyn May (Tomlinson) Luttenberger.
After graduating from the Overbrook School for the Blind in Philadelphia, PA, she went on to work for Vision Corps in Lancaster as an assembly line worker for more than 20 years.
Janice was an avid reader of Braille, and enjoyed reading aloud to others from her magazines. During her time at Vision Corps, she was a volunteer reader at their radio reading service, and participated in ceramics classes, where she created beautiful religious-themed pieces. She enjoyed her collection of music boxes, and loved listening to country music.
Janice had a cheerful disposition and an effervescent personality. Her keen sense of hearing enabled her to instantly recognize people from their voices, and, once heard, she never forgot a voice—once recognizing the voice of someone she hadn’t seen in 20 years!
Janice is survived by her father, John H. Luttenberger, Jr., of Lancaster, PA; her brother, John H. Luttenberger, III, of Philadelphia, PA; an aunt, Janice L. Carpenter, of Lancaster, PA; an uncle and aunt, Norman and Barbara Tomlinson, of Lancaster, PA; additional uncles and aunts and numerous cousins.
She is predeceased by her mother, Evelyn May (Tomlinson) Luttenberger.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Chapel at Conestoga View, 900 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Dorothy Harnish officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Riverview Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janice’s memory may be made to Overbrook School for the Blind, 6333 Malvern Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19151 or to Conestoga View, at address listed above.
