Jay F. Risser, 81, of Lancaster, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County with his family by his bedside.
He was married 60 years to Evelyn Holbein Risser. Born September 6, 1929 in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late Paul and Elsie Shonk Risser.
Mr. Risser was the owner of the former J. H. Brubaker, Inc. for 35 years. Prior to that he had worked as the vice president of sales at J.C. Snavley and Sons, Inc. for 18 years. In 1981 Jay was the awarded the Associate Member of the Year award from the Building and Industry Association. He was a graduate of East Hempfield High School where he had participated in soccer, basketball and baseball.
Mr. Risser was a charter member of the Hempfield United Methodist Church where he had been involved as a youth director, Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. He was a 40 year member of the Mount Joy Rotary Club.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Theodore husband of Kimberly Risser of Millersville, and Timothy husband of Kathryn Risser of Manheim; a daughter, Susan wife of Thomas Bair of Wrightsville; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Cloy husband of Marian Risser of Mountville, and P. Wilbur husband of Lorraine Risser of Warminster. He was preceded in death by a brother Dave Risser and by sisters, Dorothy Zeller, Anna Mae Collins, Mildred Frey, June Myer, Mary Derr and Pauline Lutz.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA with the Rev. Dr. Ed Barlow officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Silver Spring Cemetery.
