Jean Y. Gochnauer

Jean Y. Gochnauer, 80, of Conestoga, died Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County in Mount Joy. She leaves a legacy of a person of strong faith who spent many hours in prayer.

She was married52 years to the late Paul H. Gochnauer who died in 2005. Born in Lancaster Twp., she was the daughter of the late Elvin G. and Laura E. (Herr) Herr.

Jean was a homemaker and a member of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle. Jean had a selfless caring spirit and enjoyed her volunteer work at the Columbia Re-Uzit Shop, the Hans Herr Gift Shop, the Auxiliary of the Rohrerstown Fire Co. and quilting at the M.C.C. Resource Center. She was a graduate of Penn Manor High School.

Surviving are two sons, James E. husband of Ruth A. Gochnauer of Brooklyn, NY and David L. husband of Rebecca Gochnauer of Conestoga; three daughters, C. Jane wife of Myron Brubaker of Olar, SC, Patricia Lee wife of Carl Frey of Lancaster, and Sandra F. wife of Wayne Reist of Landisville. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Arlene wife of Harry Brenneman of Westminster, SC and Mary Ann wife of Lamar Denlinger of Carlisle.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 2:30 P.M. at the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, 601Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church, 601 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to Camp Andrews, 1226Silver Spring Road, Holtwood, PA 17532.
