Jesse S. Fisher

Jesse S. Fisher, 80, of Lancaster passed away March 28 at Hospice of Mount Joy where he was surrounded by his family. Born February 21, 1932 in Gap, he was the son of the late Benjamin J., Sr. and Lena (Glick) Fisher.

He was married to Rebecca S. (Stoltzfus) and celebrated 54 years of marriage November 23.

He was a member of Stumptown Mennonite Church where he was also a caretaker for 18 years.

He was formerly employed by Krown Kitchens, C.B. Hoober’s Inc., Abe’s Buggy Rides, and volunteered at the New Holland ReUzIt Shop.

A quiet and gentle man he treated all people with care and respect. His love and respect for others never went unnoticed. Jesse had few acquaintances because everyone he met became his friend.

He is survived by 3 children; daughter, Marty wife of Jay Smucker of Mount Joy; sons, Kenny husband of Brenda Rohrer Fisher of Leola and Randy husband of Deb Grimmer Fisher of Lititiz; grandchildren Mike, Jessica and Jason; and 7 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are 7 brothers; Aaron of Lancaster, Elmer husband of Mary of Strasburg, Menno of Lancaster, Ben J. husband of Emma of Gap, John, husband Anna of Rebersburg, and Alvin husband of Anna of Fridens.

He was preceded in death by a sister Sarah Esh and 2 brothers Leon and Christie.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Road, Bird-In-Hand, PA. Friends may call at Stumptown Mennonite Church on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the Funeral on Sunday, however the family will greet friends following the service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jesse’s memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive. P.O.
