Jessie Elizabeth Greybill, age 92, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 19. Her nephew Don Wert shared prayers and Bible passages and her daughter Lisa was by her side.
Jessie was born in Port Royal Pennsylvania on January 30, 1921, the daughter of Charles H. and Maude (McVey) Wert. She graduated from Port Royal High School, where she was an honor student, in 1939. She married Charles E. Greybill of Lewistown on July 25, 1941. Shortly afterward, the couple moved to Lancaster County.
Jessie worked in the business office of Warner Lambert Pharmaceuticals. She also had a great love for carpentry and assisted her husband in the construction of eight houses over their 53 years together. She enjoyed her flower gardens, long walks, reading the Bible, needlecrafts, and fishing. She was a co-founder of a Neighborhood Bible Study in the Lyndon development which lasted for many years. Jessie was a 42 year member of Boehm’s United Methodist Church, Willow Street. She had a great love for Jesus Christ that was evident to all who knew her.
Jessie is survived by her son Larry and daughter-in-law Linda, of Jackson NJ; son Robert, of Lancaster PA; daughter Lisa, of Lancaster PA; sister Mary, of Lancaster PA; sister Gladys, of Thompsontown, PA; brother Marlin, of Port Royal PA; granddaughter Jennifer, of Mount Laurel NJ; and grandson Mike of Indianapolis, IN. She has two great-grandsons, Caleb and Noah. She joins in eternal life her husband Charles, sisters Betty and Dorothy, brother Bill, and parents Charles and Maude.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service at Boehm’s United Methodist Church, 13 W. Boehms Rd, Willow Street, PA on Friday, November 22, at 11:00 am. Viewing is from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. Please omit flowers.
